Clearview ES Team (1999). Developing Metacognitive Behaviors in Third and Fourth Grade Students.
Researchers found that in order for students to develop metacognitive behaviors, they had to provide an environment with the following components: direct teaching of thinking strategies, an atmosphere conducive to the discussion of metacognition, and opportunities for the practice of thinking skills.
Metz Jr. High School Team (1999). Developing Student Connections to Learning.
The researchers studied how they can help their students learn more about themselves and the way they learn was one strategy in helping the students become agents of their own learning. They also examined the extent to which individual personality types impact on learning styles and the development of agency.
Painter, Diane (1995-96). What Happens When Students Use Text-to-Speech and Word Predict Programs to Compose Text? Fairfax County Public Schools.
Two Fifth Grade Students with Learning Disabilities Find Writing Success Using Talking Text and Word Prediction Programs.
Prospect Heights Middle School Team-A (1999). Ownership of Learning Through Learning Styles.
The purpose of this study was to determine if students would perform better, academically, if they were aware of their strongest learning styles.
