Participants in a graduate program must maintain a 3.000 GPA (B average). George Mason allows 6 credits of C grades for graduation with a master’s degree. However, due to GSE teacher licensure policy, students in the literacy emphasis must receive a grade of B or above, and must pass specific performance assessments embedded within each course, in order to move to the next course in the literacy sequence and eventually be recommended for licensure as a reading specialist. Students experiencing difficulty in meeting requirements may apply to re-take courses or specific performance assessments.
