M.Ed. - Special Education-Concentration: Early Childhood (Birth-Age 5) No Licensure
Required Courses (17 credits)
- EDSE 501: Introduction to Special Education (3 credit hours)
- EDSE 557: Language Development and Emergent Literacy for Diverse Learners, Ages 3-5 (3 credit hours) ( crosslisted with EDUT 513)
- EDSE 517: Computer Applications for Special Populations (3 credit hours)
- EDSE 590: Special Education Research (3 credit hours)
- EDSE 665: Collaboration with Families of Children with Special Needs (3 credit hours)
- EDSE 791: Midpoint Portfolio (1 credit hours) (must be taken concurrently with the 4th or 5th special education course)
- EDSE 792: Final Portfolio (1 credit hours) (- must be taken concurrently with the last course in the program)
Electives (13 credits)
- Electives from EDSE or UTEEM prefix courses graduate certificate for teacher licensure.
Portfolio
A professional portfolio is required. The portfolio reflects the student's professional development throughout the program and contains examples of performance assessments associated with standards.
