“Liven Up Teaching Arabic and Chinese Through The Theory of Multiple Intelligences!”

Chinese and Arabic teachers participate in a two-week long Summer Institute at George Mason University from June 23 – July 3, 2008

Week # 1:

Participants actively engage in five professional development workshops focused on Multiple Intelligences theory as a highly effective tool for teaching Arabic and Chinese.

Themes include:

  • Teaching with Technology
  • Curriculum and Assessment Development
  • Culture and Standards
  • Learner-Centered Instruction
  • Games and Other Interactive Activities

Week # 2:

Participants actively participate off site and online in a multimedia learning environment using Blackboard and Multimedia Educational Resource for Learning and Online Teaching (MERLOT).

Benefits to Participants:

    1.The creation of new MI-based materials for Arabic and Chinese
    2.Teachers interact with summer language camp students putting theory to practice and strengthening classroom management skills
    3.Teachers collaboratively work to create multimedia packets for teaching Arabic and Chinese
